Mein Gott, verwirf mich nicht,
Wiewohl ich dein Gebot noch täglich übertrete,
Von deinem Angesicht!
Das kleinste ist mir schon zu halten viel zu schwer;
Doch, wenn ich um nichts mehr
Als Jesu Beistand bete,
So wird mich kein Gewissensstreit
Der Zuversicht berauben;
Gib mir nur aus Barmherzigkeit
Den wahren Christenglauben!
So stellt er sich mit guten Früchten ein
Und wird durch Liebe tätig sein.

Gott, der du die Liebe heißt,
Ach, entzünde meinen Geist,
Laß zu dir vor allen Dingen
Meine Liebe kräftig dringen!
Gib, daß ich aus reinem Triebe

Mon Dieu et mon juge,

Mais Jésus entend ma prière
et intercède pour moi auprès de son Père.
Le fardeau de mes fautes m’oppressait,
mais la parole consolatrice de Jésus
m’a secouru à nouveau,
lui qui a tant fait pour moi.

Mon Dieu, ne me repousse pas,
bien que chaque jour je transgresse
ton commandement devant ta face!
Le plus petit, pour moi, est déjà trop lourd à porter;
mais si ma prière ne demande rien de plus
que le soutien de Jésus,
alors il n’est pas de remords
qui puisse me priver de ta confiance;
donne-moi, uniquement par miséricorde,
la véritable foi chrétienne!
Ainsi, elle portera de bons fruits
et se manifestera par des actes d’amour

Dieu, toi qui te nommes l’amour,
ah! enflamme mon esprit,
laisse avant toute chose
mon amour s’élever puissamment vers toi!
Fais que, d’un pur mouvement,
J’aime mon prochain comme moi-même;
Et si les ennemis troublent ma paix,
Envoie-moi ton secours

Dieu soit honoré sur le trône suprême,
le Père de toutes les bontés,
et Jésus-Christ, son Fils bien aimé
qui en tout temps nous protège,

et ensuite dans l’éternité.

How ominously my steps might waver [toward evil];
But Jesus listens to my plea
And shows me [God] his father [dwelling in him].
Sin’s burdens weighed me down,
But Jesus’s [fatherly] word of comfort saves me again,
Because he has made atonement [with God his father] for me.

My God, do not cast me,
Even though I still daily transgress your commandments,
Away from your countenance.
To me, even the least [of your commandments] is much too onerous to keep;
But if I pray for nothing more
Than Jesus’s aid,
Then no struggle of conscience
Will deprive me of confidence.
Just give me, out of mercy,
True Christian faith.
In this way, it [true Christian faith] arises, with good fruits,
And will be active through love [of God and neighbor].

Ah, enkindle my spirit [with your love];
Above all things,
Let my love powerfully press in upon you.
Grant, that out of [spiritually] pure impulses
I might love my neighbor as myself;
If enemies disturb my peace,
