Ach, führe mich, o Gott, zum rechten Wege,
Mich, der ich unerleuchtet bin,
Der ich nach meines Fleisches Sinn
So oft zu irren pflege;

So gehet meine Bahn
Gewiß zum Himmel an.

comme il est écrit.
Il est l’étoile du matin,
son éclat rayonne plus loin
que les autres étoiles.

Ô pouvoir miraculeux de l’amour,
quand Dieu pense à sa créature,
quand sa splendeur
à la fin des temps
descend sur terre.
Ô puissance inconcevable et mystérieuse!
Un corps élu porte
le grand Fils de Dieu,
celui que David, déjà,
révérait dans son esprit comme son Seigneur,
afin que cette femme bénie
demeure d’une chasteté inviolée.
Ô, puissante bénédiction, abondamment répandue sur nous
puisqu’il a ouvert le ciel et fermé l’enfer.

Attire donc l’âme à toi par les liens de l’amour,
ô Jésus, manifeste-toi puissamment en elle!
Éclaire-la, qu’elle te reconnaisse avec foi,
qu’elle s’embrase de saintes flammes,
éveille en elle la soif de la foi!

Conduis-moi donc, ô Dieu, sur le bon chemin,
moi qui suis sans lumière,
qui en suivant mes sens
ai si souvent coutume de m’égarer;
mais tu n’as qu’à marcher à mon côté,
qu’à me conduire avec tes yeux,
alors mon chemin me mènera
certainement au ciel.

Tantôt à droite, tantôt à gauche
se dirigent mes pas égarés.
Accompagne-moi donc, mon Sauveur,
ne me fais pas sombrer dans le danger,
fais-moi sentir ta sage conduite
jusqu’à la porte du ciel!

Fais-nous succomber par ta bonté,
réveille-nous par ta grâce;
mortifie le vieil homme
pour que le nouveau puisse vivre
correctement ici-bas, sur cette terre,
dirigeant son esprit, et tous ses désirs
et ses pensées vers toi.

I, who am unelightened,
who because of the desires of my flesh
am accustomed to go wrong so often.
But if only you walk beside me
if only you are willing to lead me with your eyes
then my path leads
certainly to heaven.

my erring steps turn.
Go along with me , my saviour,
let me not sink into danger,
let me be aware of your wise guidance
all the way to heaven’s gates!
