Und nach Ägypten ziehen.
Gott hat ein Wort, das dich vertrauend macht.
Er spricht: Wenn Berg und Hügel niedersinken,
Wenn dich die Flut des Wassers will ertrinken,
So will ich dich doch nicht verlassen noch versäumen.

Ich bin vergnügt in meinem Leiden,
Denn Gott ist meine Zuversicht.
Ich habe sichern Brief und Siegel,
Und dieses ist der feste Riegel,
Den bricht die Hölle selber nicht.

Kann es die Welt nicht lassen,
Mich zu verfolgen und zu hassen,
So weist mir Gottes Hand
Ein andres Land.
Ach! könnt es heute noch geschehen,

Ah, Dieu, combien de tourments
mon cœur affronte en ce temps présent !
L’étroit chemin est empli de tristesse,
ce chemin que je dois parcourir jusqu’au ciel.

Mais la marche vers la félicité
mène à la joie après la souffrance.

Alors que le monde mauvais te poursuit,
tu as toujours Dieu pour ami,
qui, contre tes ennemis,
te soutient toujours.
Et lorsque Hérode, en fureur,
lance l’arrêt d’une mort odieuse
sur notre Sauveur,
alors un ange vient dans la nuit,
qui, en songe, enjoint à Joseph
de s’enfuir devant l’égorgeur,
et de fuir en Égypte.
La parole que t’adresse Dieu te rend confiant.
Il dit : quand même les montagnes et collines
s’abaisseraient,,
quand même les flots menaceraient de t’engloutir,
je ne t’abandonnerai pas, je ne te laisserai pas.

Je trouve mon contentement dans ma souffrance,
car Dieu est ma confiance.
J’ai une lettre sûre, et un sceau,
c’est le verrou solide
que même l’enfer ne peut briser.

Si le monde ne peut s’empêcher
de me persécuter ni de me haïr,
la main de Dieu me désigne
un autre pays.
Ah ! Puissé-je aujourd’hui, déjà,
contempler mon Éden !

he against your enemies
always guards your back.
And when an infuriated Herod
once issued a dreadful death
as sentence for our Savior,
so came an angel in the night
who caused Joseph to dream,
that he should escape the slayer
and flee to Egypt.
God has a statement that gives you confidence.
He says: when mountain and hill collapse,
when the flooding waters would drown you,
even then will I neither abandon nor forsake you.

I am cheerful through my suffering,
for God is my assurance.
I have certain document and seal,
and this has a secure lock,
hell itself cannot crack it.

When the world does not cease
in pursuing and despising me,
then God’s hand points out another land.
