Nul ne pouvait vaincre la mort
parmi le genre humain,
c’est à notre péché qu’en incombe la faute,
on ne pouvait trouver aucune innocence.
C’est pourquoi la mort est si vite venue
et a établi sur nous son empire,

Jésus-Christ, le Fils de Dieu,
est venu à notre place,
il a extirpé le péché
et a ainsi repris à la mort
tout son droit et sa puissance,
de la mort il ne reste plus que le spectre,

Ce fut un admirable combat
quand luttèrent la mort et la vie,
et la vie a remporté la victoire
et a englouti la mort.
L’Écriture l’avait annoncé,
comme une mort allait dévorer l’autre,
la mort est devenue objet de dérision.

Le voici le juste agneau pascal
offert par Dieu,
il a, sur le bois de la croix,

dans l’allégresse du cœur et la délectation,

en mangeant les véritables azymes de Pâques,

être associé à la parole de la grâce,
le Christ sera notre aliment
et la seule nourriture de nos âmes,

In [Christ, the] proper paschal/Easter flatbread;
The old sourdough shall not
Be with the word of grace.
