C’est seulement sur l’Ascension du Christ
que je fonde mon ascension,
par elle toujours je surmonte
tous mes doutes, mon angoisse et ma peine;
car puisque la tête est au ciel,
ses membres, Jésus-Christ
viendra les chercher au bon moment.

Je suis prêt, viens, viens me chercher!
Ici, dans le monde,
ne sont que misère, angoisse et peine;
mais là-bas, dans la tente de Salem,
je serai transfiguré.
Là je verrai Dieu face à face
comme sa sainte Parole me l’a promis.

annoncez partout:
Mon Jésus est assis à la droite de Dieu!
Qui chercherait à me contredire?
S’est-il dépris de moi,
je parviendrai un jour là-bas,
là où vit mon Rédempteur.
Mes yeux le verront dans la plus grande clarté.
Ô, puissé-je par avance m’y édifier une demeure!
Mais où donc? Souhait vain!
Il n’habite ni sur la montagne ni dans la vallée,
sa toute-puissance se montre de toutes parts;
tais-toi donc, bouche téméraire,
et ne cherche pas à approfondir ce mystère!

À sonder sa toute-puissance,

do I establish my upcoming journey
and all doubts, anxiety and pain
are hereby ever vanquished;
for since the head is in heaven
the other members of Jesus Christ will
at the proper time be fetched.

I am ready, come, fetch me!
Here in this world
are lament, anxiety and pain;
conversely once in the tent of Salem
I will be transfigured.
There I will behold God face to face
as his sacred word promises me.
