Läßt sich’s an wunderlich,

Mit Freuden wirst du schauen,
Wie Gott wird retten dich.

Mit unerschrocknem Mut,
Du wirst mit ihm erjagen,
Was dir ist nütz und gut.
Was Gott beschlossen hat,
Das kann niemand hindern
Aus allen Menschenkindern;

Wenn auch gleich aus der Höllen
Der Satan wollte sich
Dir selbst entgegenstellen
Und toben wider dich,
So muß er doch mit Spott

Und deiner Seligkeit;
Soll’s sein, kein Mensch kanns wehren,

Will’s denn Gott haben nicht,
So kann’s niemand forttreiben,
Es muß zurückebleiben,
Was Gott will, das geschieht.

Darum ich mich ihm ergebe,
Ihm sei es heimgestellt;
Nach nichts ich sonst mehr strebe,
Denn nur was ihm gefällt.
Drauf wart ich und bin still,
Sein Will der ist der beste,

Sur lui tu peux miser
d’un intrépide courage,
avec lui tu obtiendras
ce qui t’est utile et bon.
Ce que Dieu a décidé,
personne ne saurait l’empêcher
parmi tous les enfants des hommes;
il en va selon sa volonté.

Si même, sortant de l’enfer,
Satan voulait
te faire face
et se déchaîner contre toi,
il lui faudrait, par dérision,
renoncer aux intrigues
par lesquelles il veut te saisir,
car Dieu soutient tes œuvres.

Il agit pour sa gloire
et ton bonheur;
s’il doit en être ainsi, nul ne peut s’y opposer,
dût-il en souffrir.
Mais si Dieu ne le veut pas,
personne n’y peut parvenir,
cela ne doit pas arriver.
Ce que Dieu veut, cela s’accomplit.

C’est pourquoi je m’en remets à lui,
sur lui je me fonde;
je n’aspire à rien,
qu’à ce qui lui plaît.
J’attends cela et demeure silencieux,
sa volonté est ce qu’il y a de meilleur.
Cela, je le crois fermement,
que Dieu fasse, comme il le veut!

Seigneur, donne-moi
tout au long de ma vie,
d’accroître ton honneur, du fond de mon cœur,

détournes danger et malheur,

who place their trust firmly in him.
Something may begin in a baffling way,
but do not let yourself be frightened.
With joy you will behold
how God will rescue you.

with a courageous spirit,
you will with him get hold of
what is useful and good for you.
What God has decided,
that nobody can change
from all the children of mankind.
Things go according to his counsel.

Even if at once from hell
Satan should want
himself to oppose you,
and rage against you
then with derision he would have
to leave off his intrigues
with which he wants to catch you:
for God helps your work.

He directs all for his honour
and your blessedness:
it must be so, no man can fight against it,
even if it means suffering for him.
But what God does not want,
no one can carry on with.
It must be left unfinished,
What God wants, that happens.
